John Dionne is a Senior Lecturer of Business Administration at Harvard Business School and serves on the boards of Bridgepoint Group, Cengage Learning, and Clear Channel Outdoors, and as a Senior Advisor to BayPine and Privacore Capital.

From 2004 to 2023, Mr. Dionne was a Senior Managing Director and later a Senior Advisor at Blackstone. He held key leadership roles, starting as Chief Investment Officer and Founder of an investment fund focused on troubled companies. Later, he became Global Head of Private Equity Investor Relations and Business Development, leading worldwide capital formation efforts exceeding $17 billion for the firm’s flagship private equity fund in the wake of the financial crisis.

John played a pivotal role in several strategic initiatives, including the formation of Blackstone’s Tactical Opportunities and Energy Transition Partners funds, which now manage over $50 billion in assets, and the development of Blackstone’s private wealth investor platform.

John served on Blackstone’s global private equity and GSO (credit) investment committees and has held directorships with Caesars Entertainment, Momentive Performance Materials, Pelmorex Media, and several other companies.

Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Dionne was a Partner and Portfolio Manager for Bennett Restructuring Funds, a multi-billion-dollar investment firm backed by leading endowments and foundations, with a strategic emphasis on financially troubled companies.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Dionne was a Partner at Saugatuck Capital, where he invested in middle-market buyouts and restructured portfolio companies. Before that, he was Director of International Corporate Development for a predecessor of Thermo Fisher and began his career at Price Waterhouse.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Public Accountant (inactive). A native of New Hampshire, Mr. Dionne received academic honors while earning an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a B.S. from the University of Scranton, where he also served as Chair of the Board of Trustees.
